I’ll be keeping this blog as is (although I may change up the style soon) and I’m happy to announce my newest venture: confessions of a mommy come lately!! You can read all about it, with updates here: http://mommycomelately.wordpress.com
Thanks again for everyone’s feedback!!
Just came across this blog. Loved reading your progress. I have Graves and TED. Would love to see updated photos and hear how you’re doing.
Amanda….
I’ll post a recent photo later today!! Thanks for stopping by, and God Bless!!
I just wanted to tell you how much your blog helped me. I underwent eye lid surgery for TED in 2 stages last year. I looked a lot like you did and since I had been done with the Graves (after RAI treatment), I hoped my eyes might go back to normal. So I stalled. But after seeing too many horrifying photos of myself, I went online to research and came across your blog. Shortly after that I found an excellent oculoplastic surgeon and went for it. I’m still healing a bit, but look and feel much better. I’m still a little bummed about the protruding eyes which are rather obvious in my profile, but I’m grateful that I look so much better overall. THANK YOU for your willingness to share your experience and post your photos.
P.S. You look terrific!
Hi,
I was so grateful to find your web blog. I’m probably having orbital decompression surgery in the near future. I was curious, did you achy pain go away after the decompression surgery. I’ve had eye aches
constantly for a year now. My orbital eye specialist states it’s because of the extra fat
etc in the eye socket and orbital decompression surgery should help. The pain is constant and sometimes
very severe which makes it hard for me a work. My job is account and i’m on the computer 100% at work.
I was just curious if your eyes had the ache and dryness before decompression and if both went away after the surgery. Thank you so much for sharing. This is a great blog…. hope all is well your way.
Tina;
Thanks for you kind words…..
Yes, I did have the achy pain in my eyes that you talked about. Headaches that felt like migraines every day….and the dryness was almost unbearable….I remember driving an RV down the freeway and spraying liquid saline solution in my eyes WHILE DRIVING!!
and yes, the pain got better post surgery….no headaches in over a year…
I wish you all the best….I know you will feel better when this is all behind you. Please let me know how everything goes!!
Tina;
I had very achy eyes before the surgery, and I have no more headaches. I wonder if you might not benefit from tinted lenses? Mind you, I’m not ensorsing anyone, but something along these lines:

Now, some on here have mentioned that they still have ridisidual eye issues post surgery, so It must be a case by case basis. Please keep us informed.
Did I mention that I used a liquid eye refresher saline solution? I tried them all, and Genteal is my choice. It’s expensive, but it worked.
Best to you!~!
Beth – your a doll! Those glasses might help until I have the surgery and maybe post surgery. I have bad photophobia and
the aches around the eyes are so bad, any extra lighting hurts. ( hope that makes sense ) I’m an accountant for a hospital here in CT and on the computer 100% of my day. Those glasses might help with the computer glare too.
Who would think that the tissue around your eye could ache so much, my dryness has gotten a bit
better but that comes and goes too. I agree, Genteal is the best drops.
Well, thank you so much for getting back to me…. Please keep us up to date on how you’re doing too. Take care…. Tina
